Choosing a festival
The big dzong festivals in Paro and Thimphu are spectacular and draw large crowds. Smaller valley and monastery festivals, especially in Bumthang and the east, feel closer to everyday village life.

Being a good guest
A Tshechu is a religious event. Dress modestly, follow your guide's lead on where to sit and stand, and ask before taking close photos of people. Bhutanese families wear their finest kira and gho. Just be a thoughtful guest, and that's all the etiquette you need.
